I don't understand why one person with their immature actions, can ruin rest of the schools' privileges. So what if we had to go to the bathroom really bad, but couldn't because we had to sign in with the monitor first? I mean, no wonder the school has to limit their budget, because they have to hire all these monitors to keep controls of the bathroom. I mean, what is so difficult about saying sorry after doing something like that. They just feel they are the better person and who cares that people think I'm rude. Why do kids feel the need to get high? Actually, I don't even know where they get it from! Well, where the dealers get it from, that is. I don't think its a good idea to smoke weed or use any other illegal drugs. Why do something when you know its illegal and you have a chance of getting caught? It makes no sense. I think teens only do it to be cool and also because of peer pressure. They see some friends do it, they are going to feel obligated to do it also. Kids even come to school high! We look forward to prom for many years. Everyone always stresses out about having a date. Some girls or boys say that if they don't have a date, they aren't going. I think that's ridiculous don't you? Why be a party pooper just because you don't have a date? Just go with your friends!! Not everyone will have a date to prom and who really cares? You're not going to be made fun of. In fact, you might actually have a much better time, then having to worry about your date the whole time. Or even in the morning before school? I personally think this rule is ridiculous and should be changed. It's not like we're distracting anyone! We all sit in the cafeteria, or walk around. And who can really be affected by some music? No one! Only trying to ignore those crazy hall monitors that annoy all of us. But on the flip side, i do agree to some extent of Ipod banning. You need to be aware of your surroundings at all time and be careful not to run into anyone. But other than that i see no problem. The adults just don't understand today's technology and are taking it out on us.

ugghh.. I am almost 100% sure that everyone hates them. Except for those over achievers who feel the need to succeed at every little thing that is handed to them. Anyways, the SAT tests are death. They are a big part of what colleges look at when you apply. They are huge, and rumors are, if you do horrible on them, you will never get into a good college. That is not true. They are not the only thing colleges look at. How well you are doing in your classes, in my opinion, is more important that some hard, dumb, painful test. I think colleges shouldn't even need to look at the scores. None the less make us take the test. They never see eye to eye in situations. One day you might love your parents, and the next day, not so much. We all go through periods in our life where we feel we'd be better off out on your own. Sometime you might get in a fight and threaten to walk out of the house and never come back. Obviously you would not want to do this. Even though you argue with your parents, they still love you no matter what and you need to understand that. No matter how old you are, 13 going through your moody times or 17 going through rough break ups and wanting to explore the world on your own. No matter what you think there will always be a place you can call home and a family who loves you.

Sleep Deprived

Most of us need at least 8 hours of sleep per day to function. If we don't reach these requirements, most of us can't pay attention, or even worse, end up falling asleep. Sleep affects a lot in a person’s day. It affects driving abilities, sports performances, and the biggest, school work. I think school should have a nap hour. Where you can put your head down and not have to do any work because by the end of the day i can barely focus myself on the teacher. Yes, i may be looking at them, but am i really paying full attention? I could be thinking about that sleep i missed out on last night because my math teacher decided to give us too much homework, or staying out late because i have 2 dance classes back to back until 9 30. So overall, it is good to sleep and it benefits you in many ways!

TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!!

I think it is fair to say that teachers give us too much homework. But is it too much especially junior year? I've always wondered why some teachers give twice the amount of homework as another in the same subject! I think it's unfair for the students. Every student should have the same amount of homework. Homework in individual classes are fair amounts, put students have on average, 6 classes a day! How much time should actually be spent on homework? According to a not so recent study, Americans are spending more time than ever on homework. To be quite frank, homework is a waste of time. Especially when you have extracurricular activities after school, there is hardly any time to do homework. Then students are staying up late to do it, and end up falling asleep in class. And then, when the teachers hand out homework, they fake it because they have absolutely no idea what they learned in class.

Good Practices

I believe a good diet and a sufficient amount of exercise will do you good. Many people go to the gym every day after work or school. It is fun if you have someone to do it with. There are many benefits of exercises that you can take advantage of everyday. One major benefit I have noticed myself, is the ability to think. The more often I exercise, the better I pay attention in class, do better on homework and do great on my tests. I encourage everyone to get up and do at least some type of activities. Whether it be dance, gymnastics or color guard. Get up off the couch and do it! It's plain and simple. We like to spend money and buy things we sometimes don't even need! Shopping is a comfort to many girls. When we there are stressful days we go out with a few friends and spend the bucks. I, myself love to shop all the time. Whenever I have money, I feel the need to spend it. I believe this is a big problem for most of us girls. But why can't we save it up to buy something big or even put it into a college fund in the bank? There are many great stores local that we can get clothes and for a cheaper price too! They help you through your hardest times and care about you endlessly. They share top secret stories and trust you with them. But when someone changes, it doesn't end as planned. Have you ever walked down the hallway and seen someone you used to be friends with, but now you don't talk? I think this is ridiculous. How could you be so close and now so far? I believe friendships are two way street. Both have to have the motivation and drive to be friends. I think, in order to avoid this situation call them up on the phone and remind each other of the great times you have. We fight to bring that 83 in Chemistry up to a 91. We all have certain goals that we would like to achieve before the quarter ends and teachers submit grades. We all turn in outstanding work and hand in extra credit projects to bring our grades up to its full potential. We all see teachers for extra help and get homework help from our friends. Because of this stressful pressure to get our grades up, we can break down easily. A good helpful activity to help deal with stress is walking. Going for a walk with a friend or walk to the park and just reminisce on the days when you were in 3rd grade and had little homework. Also, take the time to get out on a Friday night and hang out with a friend and go roller skating. There are many creative ways to reduce stress, so be creative!

I Don't Want to See THAT!!

Why do teenagers post such revealing pictures on the internet? The internet is not a safe place whatsoever and anyone can look at them. Why do they post these pictures??? There are various reasons. 1. They do it for attention. 2. They like getting themselves into trouble, which doesn't seem right. 3. They want to ruin their reputation and chances of getting into college. Colleges now look on facebook, myspace, and other social networking sites to see what type of people they are admitting. Also, who wants to see those kinds of pictures? I'm positive I don't. I personally think it’s immature and disrespectful to show your body parts to the world and all the sketchy people we don’t even know that are out there. In order to stay safe, just don’t post these pictures and there will be less problems in the future.

Drama, Drama,and Bad Choices.

The Secret Life of the American teenager is a popular show on ABC Family. Personally i enjoy the show and all the drama that goes around in their school. The plot is great and it really relates to teens in the real world. It's also great because bad choices are made and it shows the effect it has on their lives. Their choices will change their lives forever, but they don't know that until it becomes reality. There a little negative feelings toward this show. The only thing that bothers me is that there are horrible actors. If they were better, of course the show would be more believable. I have found a video on YouTube where teenagers explain their views on the show. It is slightly hard to hear, but overall I agree with their views.

Jealous Wreck

Have you ever liked someone, but then your friend, or you thought he/she was your friend, starts flirting with them? Why do they do this? I think it is because they are jealous that you are getting the attention from that particular person. Then they feel compelled to also introduce themselves. We wish we could say, "HEY I STARTED TALKING TO THEM FIRST!!!!", but that would not be ethical. In this case, if you felt willing enough to confront them about it and felt that they would be a good friend and understand your point of view but don't, then they are not a true friend. If you don't know how to handle it or afraid you might get mad or say something you don't mean, ask a friend for advice and talking things over with them and explain how you feel. Don't let the little things in life get you down and keep your head up.

Posative or Negative?

Facebook is a big social networking site today. Most teenagers have a facebook and are on it for an average of 1 hour a day. On facebook, teens are chatting, posting comments, and sending their friends messages. Even adults are joining the facebook world and trying to reconnect with long lost friends. But when do teens say enough is enough? How can they control how long they are on the site and balance that with other activities like homework and sports? In my opinion, facebook is addicting. It distracts me from homework. One moment you say, "Wait let me check one thing", but then you end up spending a lot of time. Of course facebook is a fast pace network, but we need to know when it's too much. If we used our facebook time and actually studied for that math test we thought we bombed, maybe our grades would be better after all.

Hogging the Sink?

The above picture shows the difference of the bathroom sinks when girls aren't putting their make-up on. Make-Up free

In the above image, Two teenage girls apply their make up in the bathroom. They spread their concealers, foundations, and all their other products out along the counter! Why can't you take the time at home in the morning to put it on? I think it is very unfair to those girls who go to the bathroom and actually need to use the bathroom. Another part of this daily routine is that it is very awkward. When you are trying to wash your hands and you see them staring at you in the mirror while putting on their make-up. I personally don't understand this. When I asked 10 girls if it bothered them when girls put their make up on in the bathroom during school, 8 out of 10 said yes.

PDA (Public Display of Affection) in Public

Have you ever been walking down the hallways and had to stop or walk around because a couple decided to hug, kiss, or even make-out? Personally i have experienced this several times. I think it is very unnecessary and disrespectful. Can't you owe your boyfriend/girlfriend enough respect to show that affection in privacy? instead of letting the whole entire world know that you really like them? or even love them? I was shopping at Crossgates mall the other day, and i happened to see a couple making out very intensely in a corner. Everyone that walked by stared and whispered to the person next to them. My impression of them was that they didn't care. But how could they not care? Your being judged every time you make a move and why not let it be positive instead of negative? There was a website i came across when a monther shares her view on PDA. http://parentingpink.com/2009/10/pda-affectionate/

When does texting interfere with face to face communication?

Have you ever seen stories on the news about teenagers and texting? Have you ever thought you may be addicted, taking over your life, distracted from academics Well according to Harry Kimball, it can be something teens get into the habit of doing when they are bored.
